soulful thoughts 1: The puppetry of modern music

hey guys! this is my last entry for a week or so. i thought id talk about something thats bothered me for a while now and that is, modern mainstream music. i didnt intend on writing a rant but i guess thats out the window now. ive never really been a mainstream kinda guy, never really listening to the radio as its always been garbage to me. fast forward to 2010-2011, the garbage has gotten worse. now it seems as if talent has taken a further back seat to sexuality. turning on any music television means being bombarded by horsed faced, lady boy whores who try to look hot by convulsing.... i mean dancing, looking like truck stop hookers. i wouldnt have a problem if they were hot but come on! lol. its made worse by two factors, number 1: they can hardly sing and 2 most of them dont write their own songs. take Rihanna and her 'song' california king bed for example. not only did she not write the song but its not even reminiscent of her style. dispite all these factors, their still referred to as artists . they are far from artists, more so a marketing ploy. another thing ive noticed is all this techno inspired bullshit. a computer rendered beat put to lyrics and vocals. even former big players in RnB such as: Usher, beyonce and others have conformed to this. a stand out in my mind is pitbull. the guy sucks balls but yet people adore him. hes lyrical genius includes lines like

'I can see that you like to be sexy, sexy
I can see that you like that you nasty girl
I can see that you like to be sexy, sexy
I can see that you like that you nasty girl
You're one nasty girl'

i mean come on! this dickbag has no creative talent at all. hes just as generic as anyone else. all the rage with lyrics these days is talking about 'da clubs' and 'droppin it low' and 'look at me with my undeserved sense of accomplishment' what the fuck is going on? who really are the artists here? the douche bags who preform this junk? my vote goes to the people working the mixers. the fact that most anyone can walk into a studio with half assed lyrics and no vocal talent and can make a number one record is sick. music used to be about passion and talent, so what is it about now?
